I was reading “The Killing Joke” over the week. For those who don’t know, TKJ (for shorts) tells the story of DC Comics villain The Joker trying to drive Gotham City Commissioner Gordon insane, under the premise that anyone can turn to the bad when they have one bad day.
Which made me think… how hard is it to stay positive when things turn out for the worst? I’ve experienced it – I went to Texas to build a pro wrestling career, only to find it was all a big scam. By then I was broke and living in a shelter. Not a good time.
But I manage to go through that period. Up until today, when I’m developing a career that love and is not physically demanding. All because I remained positive.
Now, I’m not going to shower you with flowers and hooray speeches, but I’m going to tell you this – when things start to go south, try to see the lighter side of things for as long as you can. Once you turn that page and go the negative route, you have unofficially declared defeat. The final blow will come eventually.
The world of achievement belongs to the optimistic.
Weather the storm as much as possible. And hopefully, at some point, you’ll find that solution to your problems you’ve sought so hard for.
