What comes to mind when you hear the word “advertising?”
So, you have done your research, formulated your business strategy around it, and created a brand message to develop interest within your community. Now, what?
The next step sounds simple, but it’s quite complicated: to translate interest into money. And that is where many businesses fail. Thus, they end up closing.
To start making money off your business, you need to resort to the one marketing strategy every marketer on Earth becomes afraid of today. It’s the one strategy that has become a major no-no within the “content marketing” community. And of course, I’m talking about advertising.
The Importance of Advertising
I know a lot of people HATE the word advertising. Most have tried to sell while going around the term for years. But the reality is, without advertising, there are no sales.
The principle behind this statement is, people buy things because…
- they want them,
- they need them, or
- they love them.
Now, you can market your business all you want. You can have your message spread worldwide. But, until you advertise it, you will not see a penny of profit out of all your efforts.
How to Get the Most Out of Your Advertising
To me, advertising is only telling the people interested in your business:
- what you do
- why they should invest in you, and
- how they can buy.
You can get as creative as you want with your advertising – you can use the old classifieds in the newspaper. Or you can sell strictly online. Or you can have your business being placed (correctly) on a TV show or movie. If you hit the three points mentioned above, you will get their money.
People need to know what they’re buying, why they’re buying, and how to buy. Once they understand those three aspects of the negotiation – if it fits the bill – they will buy from you. If they don’t get it, they won’t.
